Cycling tours around lake Tegernsee

The foothills of the Alps are ideal for mountain bike beginners. If you're a professional cyclist, you'll find some more challenging tracks and long tours that lead into higher altitudes.

Our top tips for your mountain bike tour:

Through the Söllbach Valley to Schwarzentenn Alm

This bike tour in the south of lake Tegernsee is ideal for to begin with. You can cycle leisurely from Bad Wiessee through the Söllbachtal to the Schwarzentenn Alm. From here, continue along the Schwarzenbach stream in the direction of Wildbad Kreuth. Back to Bad Wiessee you follow the Weissach before you reach lake Tegernsee and Bad Wiessee again. You can stop for a snack at the Schwarzentenn Alm at 1025 metres or in the beer garden of the "Altes Bad" inn at Wildbad Kreuth.

Via the Auer Alm to the Fockenstein

A little more fitness is required if you want to ride your mountain bike to the rustic Auer Alm at the foot of the Fockenstein. If you like, you can cycle from the Fockenstein directly back to Bad Wiessee or continue via the Lenggrieser Hütte at the Seekarkreuz into the Söllbachtal and then back to the hotel. Beautiful panorama sights and rustic cabins also invite you to take a break here.

Bike & Hike: Up the Wallberg

This mountain bike tour is a real challenge: the ascent via the Wallberg valley station becomes very steep and spirals upwards about 800 metres, curve after curve. But you will be richly rewarded for the sweaty ascent: to the north there is the view over lake Tegernsee at your feet and to the south you can let your gaze wander over the Alps. The last stretch to the summit is done on foot. If the hustle and bustle at thepeak is too busy for you, we recommend a detour to the Altes Wallberghaus mountain hotel, where you can enjoy a „Brotzeit” platter, meat dumpling with potato salad or Kaiserschmarrn while taking in the fantastic view. Descend via the Sutten back to the starting point.
